Just what has prompted Charles Coulston, General Secretary to have to write a four page letter to all churches dated 6th December 2013? Something has rattled the NEC it seems and that appears to be a man who apparently emailed all churches with things the NEC considered were untrue.
Well let’s have both side and here we shall have them. Charles letter first, however, it is what it is. A defence of why the SNU want you in their fold. More comment to follow.
Fair play for SNU churches 
This is rather a typical response from the SNU. The SNU has become more draconian under Charles Coulston and Duncan Gascoyne. Regrettable, the mind set of the NEC seems not to have changed in recent years. If a body chooses to affiliate, it should also have the right to disaffiliate. I do not believe that the charity commissioners would interfere with the democratic members decision particularly if they are not in sole trust to the Union.
Aberdare voted with their feet and have left the SNU. Early reports are that the church is flourishing.
